323

TTU: India is ready to launch its first Vande Bharat Sleeper Express, connecting Delhi and Patna. This train will make overnight travel faster and more convenient for passengers. Unlike the earlier Vande Bharat trains with only chair cars, this version will have sleeper berths and upgraded interiors.

The service will start before Diwali 2025 and will offer passengers a quick journey of around 11.5 hours.

What Makes the Vande Bharat Sleeper Express Different?

The train is designed for long-distance overnight travel. It will have sleeper berths instead of only seats, giving passengers a comfortable night journey.

The train will also feature:

  • Modern interiors inspired by aircraft design
  • Automatic doors
  • CCTV cameras for safety
  • LED screens for information and entertainment

Passengers can expect a travel experience that is faster and more secure compared to other trains on the same route.

Route and Travel Time

The train will run between Delhi and Patna via Prayagraj.

  • Departure from Patna: 8:00 PM
  • Arrival in Delhi: 7:30 AM
  • Travel time: 11.5 hours

This is shorter than other trains on the route, which usually take between 12 and 17 hours. Even the Rajdhani Express takes longer.

Launch Date of the Delhi–Patna Vande Bharat Sleeper Express

Indian Railways is preparing to launch the train before Diwali 2025. Reports suggest the service may start by late September or early October.

The launch is expected to provide relief to passengers who often face long waiting lists during festive travel.

Ticket Pricing

Tickets for the sleeper version will cost about 10–15% more than the Rajdhani Express fares.

While slightly higher, the price will still be cheaper than air travel. The faster journey and added comfort make the cost reasonable for passengers looking for both convenience and value.

Why This Train Matters

The Vande Bharat Sleeper Express is a big step for Indian Railways. It combines faster travel, upgraded safety, and better interiors with overnight convenience. For passengers on the Delhi–Patna route, it offers a reliable and comfortable alternative to flights or slower trains.
