TTU: Visakhapatnam is preparing to open a new attraction that promises to change its tourism profile. At Kailasagiri Hills, India’s Longest Glass Skywalk will welcome visitors next week. The project is led by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA).

India’s Longest Glass Skywalk at Kailasagiri

The glass skywalk is 55 metres long. It hangs high above the ground and offers direct views of the Bay of Bengal and the Eastern Ghats. This new structure will set a record in India. Until now, Vagamon in Kerala had the longest glass bridge at 38 metres. Vizag’s new bridge will now hold that title.

The bridge cost ₹7 crore to build. It combines modern design with natural scenery. Visitors will not only enjoy the thrill of walking on glass but also experience the surrounding landscape in a unique way.

Safety and Engineering of the Glass Skywalk

The makers of the bridge focused strongly on safety. The glass panels come from Germany. Each panel has three layers of tempered laminated glass, with a thickness of 40 mm. In total, 40 tonnes of steel hold the structure.

The bridge can take a load of 500 kg per square metre. The end deck can hold more than 100 people, but only 40 visitors will be allowed at a time to keep things safe.

Who Built India’s Longest Glass Skywalk

The project is the work of RJ Adventures. This is a partnership between Bharat Mata Ventures from Kerala and SSM Shipping and Logistics from Vizag. Bharat Mata Ventures also built the Vagamon Glass Bridge in Kerala.

The team has already spent ₹10 crore at Kailasagiri. Their Adventure Zone includes ziplining, sky cycling, and rope courses. These activities are popular with both locals and tourists. Now, with the glass bridge, the area is ready to attract even more visitors.

What Visitors Can Expect

From the skywalk, people can see wide views of the sea, the city, and the green hills around Vizag. The spot will be ideal for photos, family visits, and those who love adventure.

VMRDA chairman M.V. Pranav Gopal has said this project will put Vizag on the global adventure map. According to him, the bridge will become a new symbol of tourism in India.

RJ Adventures director Jomy Poonoly also shared that this bridge is not only an attraction but a milestone for Vizag. He said it shows the city’s growth as a hub for travel and leisure.
