Travel Advisory India – Dense Fog Disrupts Flights
TTU: Heavy fog across several parts of India has disrupted flight operations, prompting airlines and airports to issue a Travel Advisory India for passengers. Low visibility conditions are leading to delays, diversions, and cancellations, especially on routes connected to Delhi.
Airline Updates:
- Air India said flights scheduled for December 30 may face delays due to dense fog in Delhi. The airline warned that these delays could affect its wider network.
- Air India also activated its FogCare service. Under this, passengers on selected flights may receive advance alerts and can opt for free rescheduling or a full refund without penalty.
- SpiceJet warned of possible delays and disruptions to flights arriving and departing from multiple cities. These include Delhi, Amritsar, Jammu, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Darbhanga, Guwahati, Bagdogra, and Patna.
- The airline advised passengers to check flight status regularly before heading to the airport.
- IndiGo also issued a Travel Advisory India, asking passengers to stay updated on flight schedules. The airline confirmed that customer support teams are available at airports to assist travellers during the disruption.
Airport Situation:
- Delhi Airport faced major operational impact on December 29. Around 128 flights were cancelled during the day.
- Several flights were diverted to Jaipur and Ahmedabad due to poor visibility.
- The airport is currently operating under Category-III conditions, which allow aircraft to land in low visibility, though delays may still occur.
