TTU: The Prayagraj administration has issued a Mahakumbh Traffic Update for Maghi Purnima, a key bathing day on February 12. To ensure smooth movement and safety, the entire fair zone will be a No Vehicle Zone starting February 11. The decision comes after a recent stampede led to several casualties. Authorities have introduced strict crowd management measures, including designated parking areas and vehicle restrictions across the city.

Traffic Plan for Maha Kumbh

To manage the large crowd expected for Maghi Purnima, the fair zone will be a No Vehicle Zone from 4:00 AM on February 11, 2025. Only essential and emergency vehicles will be allowed entry. Devotees arriving from outside Prayagraj must park their vehicles in designated parking zones according to their respective routes.

The restriction extends to the entire Prayagraj city from 5:00 PM on February 11 until the safe dispersal of devotees on February 12. These rules also apply to Kalpvasis, who stay near the Sangam for a fixed period during the festival.

Mahakumbh Traffic Update: Measures to Control Congestion

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a review meeting with police and civic officials to ensure effective crowd and traffic management. He stressed the need to fully utilize the city’s 5 lakh vehicle parking capacity and prevent traffic congestion. Authorities have been instructed to avoid long vehicle queues and maintain smooth access routes for devotees.

Judicial Inquiry and Compensation

Following the January 29 stampede during the second Shahi Snan (Mauni Amavasya), a three-member judicial commission has been set up to investigate the incident. The panel includes Justice Harsh Kumar, former Director General VK Gupta, and retired IAS officer VK Singh. The commission will submit its findings within a month. Additionally, the state government has announced INR 25 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased.

Mahakumbh Traffic Update: Ensuring a Safe Pilgrimage

With strict traffic measures in place, the administration aims to provide a safe and organized experience for devotees attending Maghi Purnima. Officials will monitor movement across the city to prevent overcrowding and ensure smooth access to the bathing sites.
